Warning! Got Angel Bites Piercing! Honest Review

As a fashionista, I love following and trying new trends. The Angel Bites piercing has become increasingly popular in the past few years and I could not resist trying it!

Many fashion icons and celebrities have tried to follow the trend. If you are also planning to do these piercings, you must have thoughts like how to do it, how bad it hurts, the healing time and more.

As it has been a few weeks since I have done my Angel Bite piercing, I will share my honest review and opinion with you. Follow the article till the end to find some challenges as well as aftercare tips.

What Is Angel Bites Piercing?

For those who are new to the term and are curious how it looks, let me clear before you get more confused. Angel Bites is a double facial piercing that sits symmetrically above and under the lips.

As the name suggests, this piercing resembles the innocent appearance of an angel. Two piercings are positioned on the upper lips, just beneath the nostril flares. For me, having a specific type of piercing is a distinctive way to convey an individual’s personality

How Did I Do This Piercing?

Here are the steps that were followed to make my Angel Bites piercing:

  • The first step is to clean and prepare the area of your upper lip.
  • Mark the spots where the piercing will be done.
  • After marking approval, the piercing needle will push through using a clamp or free-handed.
  • Lastly, the jewellery is installed through the holes and moved to the second piercing by following the same steps.

What Is the Healing Time?

The first thing that came to my mind is the healing process and healing time. It is understandable if you are also going to have your very first piercing.

I will rate the pain 6 out of 10 for this piercing. However, it depends on your pain tolerance and the thickness of your skin. I highly recommend that you clean the mouth area carefully to avoid traumatising the skin during the healing time.

It took me 10 to 12 weeks to completely heal the piercing and the pain to gone completely. Vigilant post-piercing care and following all the dos and don’ts are essential to prevent any issues.

I have discussed my Angel Bites aftercare later.

Pricing of Angel Bites Piercing

Now comes the pricing. I have searched and contacted many piercing shops, and to be honest, the cost depends on the shop as well as the geographical location. Especially with Angel Bites, there are two types of them.

I would say the Angel Bite piercing will cost between $70 to $120 if you prefer professional hands. However, at the studio, I got some discounts.

FYI: The cost does not include the tips. So you need to be sure to factor in an extra 20% for customary.

Side Effects and Aftercare to Follow

Yes, you heard it right! The Angel Bite piercing has some risks associated with the procedure. If not done carefully, there is a chance of puncturing tissue. As an experienced Angel Bites piercing holder, here is my honest review of the side effects of piercing:

Side Effects

✦ Infection: Facial piercings are more prone to infection than other piercings. Eating, touching your face, and even kissing, oral piercing have more chances of getting infected easily. Bloodborne infections such as tetanus and HIV are also possible.

✦ Swelling: I expected swelling for the first few days. Eating will surely be a difficult task. Also, stomach sleeping and side sleeping can be challenging if the mouth is too swollen.

✦ Gum Damage: Another effect is gum damage. The metal jewellery rubs against the gum surface and teeth when I move my mouth. This started to damage the tooth enamel. It is better to redo the piercing, focusing on whether the jewellery rubs against the gum or not.

✦ Nerve Disruption: Though this risk has a pretty low chance, facial piercing can cause nerve disruption if not done properly. I always recommend visiting the studio after thoroughly researching their customer reviews and professional expertise.

Aftercare Process

No need to worry! Following a proper aftercare process can help you avoid the side effects of Angel Bites. Here are the dos and don’ts that I followed:

Dos Don’ts
✔ Rinse your mouth with mouthwash after rating, before bed, and after bed. ✘ Do not try to brush your teeth harshly.
✔ Wash hands thoroughly before handling and cleaning the piercing. ✘ Touching the jewellery and talking too much can damage the tissue.
✔ Use a mild cleanser to wash the piercing area. ✘ Avoid alcohol and smoking. It can delay healing.
✔ Sleep on your back.✘ Do not share your dishes or oral utensils with others.

What Material and Jewellery Type Is Best for Angel Bites?

According to my 3-month experience with the Angel Bites piercing on, here are the materials that I prefer:

Angel Bite Studs

Studs are my first option, and it is the most common piercing jewellery. The labret studs are composed of a flat back, fixed, and a threaded, removable piercing accessory. You can adorn the studs with gemstones or beads.

Pros and Cons of Having Angel Bites Piercing

Though there are many reasons why you should enjoy adorning your style and personality, drawbacks are also a matter of concern. Understanding the advantages and disadvantages will help you decide if you should get the Angel Bites piercing or not. Here are some pros and cons that I faced:

Pros

  • Angel Bite piercing heals quicker than others because of the saliva.
  • It is less damaging than a lower lip piercing.
  • This piercing is trendy, eye-catching, and versatile.

Cons

  • Heavy jewellery can come into contact with gum and irritate it.
  • Oral piercings, like Angel Bites, are more prone to bacterial infections.
  • Due to the piercing alignment and individual anatomy, asymmetry may arise.

Reflective Thoughts!

The Angel Bites piercing looks strikingly attractive and instantly boosts confidence. If you can handle the temporary pain, following proper aftercare can balance everything. After a few months, I realised every pain was worth the look.

If you feel any discomfort, make sure to consult with a physician. However, it is surely a beautiful addition to my style. If you have any concerns regarding the piercing, feel free to share in the comment section below!
