The experience of preparing the PMP exam

After more than two months of intense study, I finally passed the PMP exam. I am very happy, because my hard work has paid off well, and I am sure of myself in my heart again. Because that period of that time experienced job-hopping, when I changing a new working environment, the workload and work intensity are very large. At the same time, I need to take care of the children. Modern society is really hard for a woman who has been in the workplace. Every time I cannot stick to my study, I will say the following words to myself: When Heaven is about to place a great responsibility on a great man, it always first frustrates his spirit and will, exhausts his muscles and bones, exposes him to starvation and poverty, harasses him by troubles and setbacks so as to stimulate his spirit, toughen his nature and enhance his abilities.

Although I am not an excellent student, I would like to share some of my learning experiences, hoping to help those who want to take the PMP exam.

In fact, we can take “learning PMP and obtaining PMP certificate” as a project, and the framework is five process groups: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.

1.Initiation

When you decide to get the PMP certificate and choose a good training institution, after the examination and learning fees are paid, then you have to give yourself the charter to set up your learning objectives. For example, the PMP certificate can be promoted to improve themselves, etc. Decide on your limits, don’t do anything outside of your limits, and allow yourself to focus on the PMP preparation during this time.

2.Planning

The Planning Process Group is the most important among the five major process groups. For those of us who have stressful jobs and families to take care of, it is especially important to plan our studies.

I combined with the lecture time to make a schedule, stage management, and draw the milestones. For example, at first, read the PMBOK once or twice. But to be honest, a lot of people can’t do that because PMBOK is a guidebook with jargon in it. My experience is that PMBOK is treated as a dictionary. If you don’t understand the definition, look at it and it’s still good. With the continuous progress of the stage, the amount of knowledge continues to increase, it is necessary to combine the SPOTO notes to deepen understanding of the knowledge points and strengthen the memory.

3.Execution

Have a plan. It is necessary to carry out. Otherwise, the plan is just a piece of paper. Now people are busy with work, so we have to use the fragments of time to study.

4.Monitoring

The monitoring process group is throughout. Check your study plan and progress at any time, and make adjustments when it is not appropriate. Follow the rhythm of the teacher and finish the exercise. Group study is essential. The advantage of group study is that you can learn a lot from excellent students and team members. You can also strengthen your understanding and impression of the knowledge points, and enhance the feelings among team members. After all, we are comrades in arms studying together, and the goal is to PASS for all team members. While learning PMP, I can get to know friends from all fields of life and gain valuable friendships. Why not?

5.Closure

The project is nearing the end. It’s the stretch period. At this time, it is necessary to carry on the carding of the whole knowledge system. After all, we have to pass the exam to get the certificate, so it is essential to do the exam. Doing questions is to test their grasp of knowledge points, find out strengths and weaknesses, check the gaps. I remember that at that time, I lost the most marks on the type of the questions of the “Change” and “Risk”, and then I strengthened my study on these weak points. Later, I would find that the points I had lost had become the points I had received. So, follow the rhythm of the teacher, do the problem in stages, and constantly summarize, strengthen, summarize, and strengthen. You can get the points are taken, and that others cannot be got it does not matter. After all, we are learning a management system, and it is impossible to master it completely in a short period of more than two months.

Although I have passed the PMP exam, I still feel I have more to learn. I need to combine what I have learned in my future work and study to continuously improve myself and make better use of the essence of the PMP system.
